In today’s business world, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the field of human resources is becoming a key factor for improving efficiency and optimizing business processes. However, as technology advances, numerous challenges also arise, requiring careful consideration in the context of legal, ethical, and human aspects. These complex issues were the focus of yesterday’s panel, “The Application of Artificial Intelligence in HR”, supported by the company WMG Digital Transformation, a leader in the field of digital transformation.
The panel was moderated by Isidora Gatarić, Analytics Delivery Lead at WMG Digital Transformation. Dragan Reščik, Head of the Human Resources Department at ProCredit Bank, Milica Stojković, HR Director at ELRAD SERBIA, and Dr Ana Lazarević, Partner at the law firm “Lazarević & Pršić Advokati”, discussed how AI is transforming the HR function – from optimizing talent selection and development to improving employee performance monitoring.
One of the key topics was how AI tools can improve the efficiency of HR processes and reduce bias in recruitment and evaluation. Although AI offers numerous advantages, such as automatic candidate profile analysis and employee engagement tracking, the panelists agreed that it is essential to clearly define the boundaries regarding the monitoring of employee behavior, in order to safeguard ethics and privacy. Still, there are also significant legal concerns, particularly relating to discrimination in candidate selection and decisions on promotions or dismissals without human involvement.
“Technology plays a key role in optimizing HR processes, enabling organizations to achieve greater efficiency and precision in selection, productivity monitoring, and anticipating training needs. Nevertheless, it remains crucial to preserve the human factor, which is irreplaceable, especially when it comes to making strategic decisions that shape an organization’s culture and long-term vision. AI tools can enhance objectivity, reduce bias, and improve decision-making, but they must be used with great care to ensure the ethical and private interests of employees are protected. Through the innovative solutions we apply at WMG Digital Transformation, we help organizations integrate AI responsibly, balancing technology with human values and the needs of each individual within the team. Our goal is for technology to be a tool that enhances – but does not replace – the human dimension in business,” stated Isidora Gatarić, panel moderator and Analytics Delivery Lead at WMG Digital Transformation.
The conclusion of the panel was clear: the development of AI technologies in the HR sector is still at an early stage, even though significant benefits are already being recognized in the areas of administration and recruitment. However, experts warn of the need for further adaptation of legal frameworks and ethical standards in order to ensure the safe, responsible, and ethical application of artificial intelligence.
