As part of the project, 50 saplings were planted with the support of the chamber’s member companies

As part of the Plant A Tree project, WMG (Wireless Media Group), in cooperation with the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and its member companies, organised a planting action in the Milutin Milanković park in Belgrade to mark the chamber’s 25 years of work in Serbia.

During the action, 50 saplings were planted, with the participation of representatives of the chamber’s member companies, institutions and project partners. This initiative once again confirmed the importance of cooperation between business, institutions and the community in creating a more sustainable and greener environment.

The Plant A Tree project, launched by WMG in 2019, continues to achieve concrete results on the ground, and recently, as part of a major planting action, the figure of 1,200,000 planted saplings across Serbia was exceeded, confirming the continuity and strength of this initiative. During the seventh cycle of the project alone, more than 200,000 saplings were planted, actions were carried out at nearly 50 locations, and more than 150 hectares of land were reforested, representing a significant contribution to increasing Serbia’s green stock and the long-term improvement of the environment

“For us at WMG, the Plant A Tree project represents part of a broader sustainable development strategy and a concrete way for us, as a member of the UN Global Compact, to contribute to environmental protection. We believe that responsible business also entails an active role in the community, which is why it is especially important to us that, thanks to this project, we are bringing companies, institutions and citizens together around a shared goal – to make our country healthier and better for living. Cooperation with the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce and its member companies shows that, when we join forces around the same goal, we can achieve an even stronger and more long-term impact on the environment and society as a whole. We owe special thanks to all partners and organizations that support and take part in the Plant A Tree project, and today especially to PUC Zelenilo Beograd, which carried out this planting together with us and is the partner of today’s action,” said Ruža Veljović, Director of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Marketing at WMG.

On the occasion of the anniversary and the joint planting action, representatives of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce highlighted the importance of such initiatives for connecting the business community and contributing to sustainable development:

“These kinds of initiatives are good because they are part of continuity, rather than one-off messages. Sustainability, like trust in business, is not built declaratively – but through concrete and continuous activities. What is important today is that, as a business community, we have shown that we can act together, in an organised manner and with a clear goal. In the year in which we are marking 25 years of German-Serbian business cooperation, projects such as this additionally confirm that partnership between business and institutions can produce visible and long-term results,” said Filip Simović, President of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The Plant A Tree project was launched by WMG (Wireless Media Group), with the support of the WMG Foundation, The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management – The Forestry Administration, The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development, PE Srbijašume, PE Vojvodinašume, The Serbian Reforestation Movement, The Serbian Chamber of Commerce, The Jevremovac Botanical Garden, Belgrade’s Faculty of Biology and Forestry, The School of Forestry in Kraljevo, The Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, The Vojvodina Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection and PUC Zelenilo Beograd. In this round, JYSK and The German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce joined in as well.
