At the event marking the Foundation’s anniversary, the results of its work and a new initiative for connecting women with the aim of strengthening their professional and social influence were presented

The WMG Foundation, established in 2024 by the company WMG (Wireless Media Group), has marked two years of work. At the ceremonial cocktail reception organised on this occasion, representatives of institutions, partners from the business and civil sectors, the diplomatic corps, as well as numerous friends of the Foundation, were in attendance. At the event, the results achieved by the Foundation during its first two years of work were presented, as well as the new women’s initiative SPONA (LINK), intended to connect the knowledge and experience of women, experts from various fields, with the aim of strengthening and improving the social position of women in Serbia.

“Two years ago, we launched the WMG Foundation with the wish to raise the social responsibility of the Wireless Media Group company to a higher, systemic level and to bring together, through a foundation with a clear mission, everything that we as a company have already been doing for years through knowledge, media, projects and partnerships. We believe that the true impact of a company is measured not only by its business results, but also by the mark it leaves on society. That is precisely why we seek to support initiatives that contribute to the self-sustainability of society in Serbia and the Western Balkans and that have long-term value for the community. We are especially pleased to be marking two years of that journey today together with the partners, associates and friends of the Foundation who are part of this story,” stated Ana Aleksić, member of the WMG Board and President of the Management Board of the WMG Foundation.

Since its establishment, the WMG Foundation has been developing projects focused on topics of broader social importance through the initiatives EUpravo Zato, Prevention as a Guarantee, and Empower the Young. The new women’s initiative SPONA represents a natural continuation of that mission. It has been conceived as a network of cooperation and support and is dedicated to the active and equal participation of women in all spheres of social life.

Irena Petrović, Director of the WMG Foundation, pointed out that women stand behind the success of this foundation and that SPONA arose from the need for society to recognise and make use of the full potential of gender equality, for the benefit of all. “SPONA is a call to join forces, experiences and perspectives so that we may open up more space for cooperation, support and joint action for women in Serbia and the region. We believe that connecting knowledge and experience creates a new energy that can contribute to a stronger social influence of women. Our wish is for SPONA to become a network in which women encourage one another, learn from one another and together build a path towards a more promising society. We believe that it is precisely through initiatives such as this that we can create space for new ideas, partnerships and projects that will contribute to the development of the community and open up more opportunities for future generations of women,” stated Petrović.

Particular attention was drawn by the presentation of the special publication SPONA, conceived as a kind of manifesto dedicated to women’s struggle and women’s success.

“We wanted the experiences and achievements of women from different professions and with different experiences to serve as inspiration and a guide to all women who wish to develop their potential, and for each of us to leaf through it whenever encouragement and motivation are needed,” the WMG Foundation team said. With the aim of presenting SPONA, they prepared a special edition featuring a large number of interviews with prominent women in the spheres of diplomacy, art, culture and business in Serbia.
